Beschreibung

The Burkinabe education system, in addition to being ill-adapted to the needs of the economy, is underperforming at all levels. Pre-school education is almost non-existent and essentially urban. Despite the efforts made to improve access to basic education, the completion rates in 2022 for primary and post-primary education are 62% and 33% respectively. These low performances indicate that the education system still faces many challenges to which the Education and Training Sector Plan (PSEF 2017-2030) and the Strategic Plan for the Development of Basic and Secondary Education (PSDEBS 2021-2025) provide answers. Through the EQUIPE 2024-2036 programme, Switzerland wants to contribute to strengthening access, quality and governance of the Burkinabe education system, so that it allows for a more inclusive, protective, equitable and quality education.
